Gary J. Sherman, PhD

Gary J. Sherman has more than 35 years of experience as a professional mathematician, working throughout as a researcher, reviewer, and college professor. His expertise in modern algebra, linear algebra, probability theory, topology, and functional analysis uniquely qualified him to develop the extended set algebra that is at the heart of Professor Sherman spent his entire teaching career at Indiana’s Rose‐Hulman Institute of Technology, rated as the best engineering college in America in each of the last 16 years by U.S. News & World Report. While at Rose‐Hulman, he published dozens of papers, received many awards and research grants, and was Chairman of the Department of Mathematics for six years. During this period, Gary also served for 11 years as a reviewer for the American Mathematical Society and for 12 years as a Visiting Lecturer for the Society of Industrial & Applied Mathematics. He received his BS and MA degrees in mathematics from Bowling Green University and his PhD in mathematics from Indiana University.
